Collat ProEd introduces new summer course on data visualization

The Collat School of Business at the University of Alabama at Birmingham is offering a new and exciting opportunity for professionals looking to enhance their skills in data communication and storytelling. The new live-online course, “The Art and Science of Data Visualization: A Hands-On Approach to Impactful Storytelling,” is set to begin on June 20 and will run for seven weeks.

Led by data visualization expert and UAB Collat School of Business alumna Alicja Foksinska Arnold, participants will have the chance to learn from a seasoned professional with a wealth of experience in the field. The course is designed to empower early to mid-career professionals with the essential tools needed to convey compelling narratives through data.

Director of Collat Professional Education, Cori Perdue, emphasized the importance of data visualization in today’s digital world, stating that the ability to present meaningful insights and make informed decisions is crucial. The course will include case studies, a practical project, and engaging discussions to provide participants with a comprehensive learning experience.

One of the unique features of the course is its emphasis on practical application, offering participants the opportunity to expand their knowledge, refine their skills, and gain networking opportunities. Additionally, participants will have the chance to pursue the Tableau Desktop Specialist certification exam to further enhance their professional credentials.

Registration for the course closes on June 13, with scholarships available for interested participants. The course will culminate in an in-person presentation at the UAB Collat School of Business on August 15, providing participants with a real-world opportunity to showcase their newly acquired skills.
