A college student’s daring attempt to meet legendary cricketer MS Dhoni during an IPL match at the Narendra Modi Stadium in Ahmedabad landed him in hot water as he was arrested for criminal trespassing and illegal entry, police revealed on Saturday.

The incident took place during a thrilling match between Gujarat Titans and Chennai Super Kings, where the accused, identified as final-year BA student Jai Bharat, jumped onto the field in a bid to meet Dhoni. However, his plans were thwarted by alert constables who apprehended him before he could reach the pitch.

Ahmedabad ACP Digvijay Singh Rana confirmed that a case has been registered against the student for trespassing and illegal entry during the match. Despite initial fears of malicious intent, it was determined that Bharat had no harmful motives.

In a high-scoring encounter, GT posted a formidable total of 231/3, thanks to explosive centuries from Sudarshan and Gill. CSK’s chase got off to a rocky start, but a valiant effort from Daryl Mitchell and Moeen Ali kept them in the game briefly before they fell short, finishing at 196/8.

The match concluded with Gill being awarded the ‘Player of the Match’ for his stellar performance. The incident involving Bharat added an unexpected twist to the game, highlighting the passion and enthusiasm of cricket fans, even if it meant facing legal consequences.
