Nevada Classical Academy Elko Embraces Classical Education Model

ELKO — Nevada Classical Academy Elko is set to bring back the classical model of education, following a nationwide trend. The school, which received approval as a Hillsdale College Supported Founding Effort last fall, is gearing up to open its doors in September 2025.

NCAE will be guided by Hillsdale College and will implement the institution’s K-12 Curriculum. Initially, the school will cater to students from kindergarten to third grade, with plans to gradually expand to a complete K-12 school.

According to NCAE board member Julie Woodbury, the classical model of education was once widely embraced in the Western world. Founding Fathers like Thomas Jefferson, John Adams, and James Madison were educated using this method, which not only focused on academics but also instilled virtues like courage, perseverance, and self-control.

As NCAE prepares for its opening, the school is actively engaging with the community through various events. Representatives will be present at the county library and Head Start’s Let’s Get Ready for Kindergarten event in April. Additionally, events are scheduled in May and June to introduce the school and gather feedback on planned activities, clubs, and volunteer opportunities.

With a focus on academic excellence and character development, Nevada Classical Academy Elko is poised to make a mark in the education landscape by reviving the time-honored classical education model.
