Conor McGregor Criticizes UFC Champ Ilia Topuria, Comparing Him to Artem Lobov

Reading Time: < 1 minute

Conor McGregor has never been one to hold back his opinions, and his recent comments about UFC featherweight champion Ilia Topuria are no exception. During a live chat on Monday, McGregor didn’t mince words when asked about Topuria, likening him to his former friend and teammate Artem Lobov.

“F*ck him, too,” McGregor said of Topuria. “He reminds me of a little r*tard Artem Lobov. Topuria, [he] does, two little r*tards.”

But McGregor’s disdain for Topuria goes beyond just personal feelings. The Irish superstar took issue with Topuria’s claims about becoming the highest paid athlete in the world by 2025, mocking him for his misapprehension about when the counting for that list actually begins.

While McGregor doesn’t seem interested in actually fighting Topuria, he expects former foe Max Holloway to dispatch him if they meet in a matchup targeted to take place before the end of 2024.

Despite Topuria’s recent success as featherweight champion, McGregor doesn’t understand the buzz surrounding him and believes he needs to keep fighting to prove himself.

In typical McGregor fashion, he didn’t have kind words for the previous featherweight champ, Alexander Volkanovski, either.

“Thoughts on Volkanovski? No thoughts. F*ck him too. I’d have kicked his head clean off his shoulders and that’s a fact,” McGregor said.

It’s clear that McGregor’s opinions on Topuria and the featherweight division are as strong as ever, and fans can expect more fireworks from the outspoken fighter in the future.
