In a recent episode of the Pound 4 Pound podcast, former UFC welterweight champion Kamaru Usman revealed that he offered Conor McGregor two opportunities to fight for his title during his reign from 2018-2022. However, McGregor declined both times, according to Usman.

Usman responded to recent comments made by McGregor, where the Irish fighter insulted Usman and dismissed him as a competitor, calling him “a bum.” Usman expressed his disappointment in McGregor’s behavior, stating that he didn’t disrespect McGregor during his troubles and expected the same respect in return.

During Usman’s reign, McGregor was focused on a crossover boxing bout with Floyd Mayweather Jr. and dealt with various outside-the-cage issues, including a suspension and allegations of sexual assault. Usman successfully defended his title five times before losing it to Leon Edwards in August 2022.

Usman emphasized the importance of promoting fights but criticized McGregor for unnecessary personal attacks outside of promotion. He warned McGregor to focus on his upcoming fight with Michael Chandler at UFC 303 on June 29, predicting a knockout win for Chandler if McGregor is not fully prepared.

Usman acknowledged McGregor’s skill but highlighted Chandler’s abilities, stating that McGregor needs to be fully focused to stand a chance against him. Usman’s comments have sparked interest in a potential matchup between McGregor and Chandler, with fans eager to see how the situation unfolds in the coming months.
