Copilot+ PC Gaming Feature Delivers Steam Deck-Level Performance on Snapdragon X PCs

Reading Time: < 1 minute

Microsoft has just unveiled its new Copilot+ PCs, and the tech world is buzzing with excitement. These new PCs run on Snapdragon X processors, which power exclusive AI features that enhance the computing experience. One of the standout features is Auto Super Resolution, an upscaling technology that helps boost frame rates while maintaining detailed visuals.

The Copilot+ PCs rely on the Snapdragon X Elite or Snapdragon X Plus processors, which include an NPU optimized for AI. This allows for features like Automatic Super Resolution (Auto SR), Microsoft’s answer to NVIDIA DLSS and AMD’s FidelityFX Super Resolution. This technology automatically enhances a set of existing games by lowering the rendering resolution to increase frame rates and then using AI to provide enhanced high-definition visuals.

To use Auto SR, your PC needs to meet certain requirements, including having a Copilot+ PC with a Qualcomm Snapdragon X processor, Windows 11 version 24H2 or later, and the latest graphics and neural processor drivers. A display resolution of 1080p or greater is also necessary.

While these Copilot+ PCs may not be classified as gaming PCs, they are capable of running games like Baldur’s Gate 3 at around 30 FPS. This performance, combined with the potential for better battery life compared to current handheld gaming devices, could push the handheld market forward and provide gamers with more options.

With over 1,000 games expected to run at 1080p at 30 FPS on these new PCs, and popular titles like Borderlands 3 already showcasing the benefits of Auto SR, the future looks bright for Microsoft’s Copilot+ PCs.
