Microsoft has unveiled a new category of Windows PCs called Copilot+ PCs, promising users extra advantages with a neural chip. The company showcased a gaming feature of Copilot designed to assist players in certain Xbox and PC games.
According to Microsoft’s X post, Copilot uses natural language conversations to guide players when they get stuck or need information. In a demonstration within Minecraft, a player asked Copilot how to craft a sword, and Copilot was able to explain the process and direct the player to the necessary resources.
This AI-powered chatbot could be a game-changer for gamers who often get frustrated when they don’t know how to progress in a game. Instead of searching online guides, Copilot allows for quick in-game conversations.
However, one potential issue with AI-powered chatbots like Copilot is the possibility of hallucination, where the AI confidently provides incorrect information, misleading the player.
Microsoft anticipates selling around 50 million laptops with the new Copilot+ PC label, with support from Intel, AMD, and Qualcomm providing processors equipped with AI-powered chips. Major PC companies like Dell, HP, Acer, Asus, Samsung, and Lenovo will be manufacturing Copilot+ PCs.
Additionally, Microsoft announced updated versions of its Surface Laptop and Surface Pro with new Snapdragon X processors, claiming significant performance boosts of 86% faster for the Surface Laptop and 90% faster for the Surface Pro compared to their predecessors.
