Corporate Systems Breach Exposes Business Data, Everbridge Issues Warning

Everbridge, a prominent American software company specializing in crisis management and public warning solutions, recently disclosed a corporate systems breach that exposed business and user data to unknown attackers. The company, which serves over 6,500 customers globally, including major entities like the U.S. Army and Hartsfield-Jackson Atlanta International Airport, detected the breach on May 21.

According to Jeff Young, Everbridge’s Vice President of Corporate Communications, the attackers gained access to files containing admin user and limited other users’ contact information, details about subscribed services, and access methods. While there is no evidence of a ransomware attack, the company has informed law enforcement agencies and is working with cybersecurity experts to assess the breach’s severity.

In response to the heightened risk of phishing attacks, Everbridge is urging customers to enable multi-factor authentication (MFA) on all accounts by June 3. The company is also providing guidance on identifying and preventing phishing attempts to enhance security measures.

Everbridge, formerly known as 3N Global, went public in 2016 and reported revenues of $449 million in 2023. In a significant development, investment firm Thoma Bravo announced a $1.8 billion deal to take Everbridge private in March 2024.

As the investigation into the breach continues, Everbridge remains committed to safeguarding customer data and enhancing security protocols to prevent future incidents.
