The Escalon tennis team wrapped up their regular season in style, securing a championship title with a perfect 10-0 record in league play. Their final match against Hughson proved to be a nail-biter, with the Cougars narrowly defeating the Huskies by a 5-4 margin.
Standout performances in singles play came from Nathan Rose and Kali Castellanos, who both secured victories in straight sets. The doubles teams also shined, with Daniel Adams and Luca Cerasi, Cooper Fugett and Logan Wentzell, and Violet Da Silva and Maddox Neilson all notching wins for Escalon.
Head coach Julianne Eavenson was recognized as the TVL Coach of the Year, adding to the team’s accolades. Several players were also honored with All-League selections, including Adams, Cerasi, Neilson, Da Silva, Castellanos, Franzia, Rangel, Lara, and Underwood.
Following their success at the league tournament, the team now sets their sights on the playoffs. With key players like Rose, Adams, Cerasi, Lara, and Rangel qualifying for individual sections, Escalon is poised for a strong postseason showing.
As they await their playoff pairing, the Cougars could potentially earn a first-round bye or be back in action as early as May 2. With their impressive season performance and talented roster, Escalon tennis is ready to make a splash in the postseason.
