Alyssa Richman of Manson Northwest Webster capped off an impressive showing at the state track and field meet by securing a fifth-place finish in the Class 2A 1,500-meter run. Richman’s time of 4:50.27 was a season’s best and just three seconds off her personal record.

Reflecting on her achievement, Richman expressed her satisfaction with her performance despite not achieving her desired time.

The talented junior distance runner also moved up a spot from last year’s standings, where she finished sixth overall in the same event. Richman has now accumulated four state medals over the past two seasons, showcasing her consistency and dedication to her sport.

Other notable performances at the state meet included Maddie Fehr of West Bend-Mallard, who improved on her eighth-place finish in the 1A 200 from last year by securing sixth place this year. Tyra Schupbach also set a new personal record in the 1,500.

Chloe Judisch of South Central Calhoun wrapped up her high school career with a seventh-place finish in the 800, posting a season’s best time. Mason Van Pelt of Humboldt competed in the 3A 800-meter run, while Evan Allie of Algona secured an eighth-place finish in the 3A 200-meter dash.

Overall, the state track and field meet showcased the talent and dedication of Iowa’s high school athletes, with many individuals achieving personal bests and earning well-deserved medals.
