Crocs Launches Nationwide Shoe Takeback Program to Combat Fashion Waste

Crocs, the popular footwear company known for its comfortable foam clogs, has announced the expansion of its shoe takeback program across the United States. The program, titled “Old Crocs. New Life,” aims to combat fashion waste by giving consumers a sustainable way to dispose of their old Crocs shoes.

All Crocs retail and outlet locations in the continental United States now have designated collection boxes where consumers can drop off their Crocs shoes in any condition – from well-loved to gently used or outgrown. Additionally, those with used Crocs shoes can request a no-cost mail-back kit from crocs.com to send in their shoes for their next life. As a reward for participating, each individual will receive a one-time 10 percent discount on Crocs products, either in-store or online.

The gently used shoes collected through the program will be donated to Soles4Souls, an international non-profit organization that promotes local economic benefit in communities worldwide. As for the “well-loved pairs” that are unwearable, Crocs will repurpose and reimagine the materials to give them a new use, such as upcycling them into new shoes.

Deanna Bratter, the vice president and global head of sustainability at Crocs, expressed excitement about the program’s expansion and its potential impact on the environment and society. The company’s goal is to achieve net zero status by 2040, building on its previous commitment to sustainability.

The nationwide expansion of the “Old Crocs. New Life” program reflects Crocs’ dedication to addressing environmental challenges in the footwear industry and making a positive difference by keeping shoes out of landfills. With the support of consumers, Crocs aims to continue leveraging partnerships and innovation to give each pair of shoes its next best use.
