The Pittsburgh Penguins defeated the New York Rangers 5-2 on Monday night, ending the Rangers’ five-game winning streak. Sidney Crosby led the way with two goals and an assist, while Alex Nedeljkovic made 28 saves in the victory.

The Penguins, who had lost their previous four games in New York, improved to 14-9-3 in their last 26 games against the Rangers. Bryan Rust also scored twice, and Emil Bemstrom added a goal for Pittsburgh.

Despite falling behind 3-0, the Rangers fought back with goals from Kaapo Kakko and Jack Roslovic in the third period. However, empty-net goals from Rust and Crosby sealed the win for the Penguins.

Crosby’s performance also marked some significant milestones, including his 37th goal of the season and his 997th career assist. With 82 points this season, Crosby is averaging a point per game for the 19th time in his career, joining the likes of Wayne Gretzky in that achievement.

Penguins coach Mike Sullivan praised Crosby’s consistency and leadership, calling him one of the greatest players of all time. Nedeljkovic, in his first season with the Penguins, also commended Crosby’s impact on the team.

The Rangers, who have been on a hot streak with wins in seven of their last nine games, will look to bounce back when they host the New Jersey Devils on Wednesday night. The Penguins will face the Devils on the road tonight in their next matchup.
