CSK and RCB keep playoff hopes alive with victories in IPL

In a thrilling day of Indian Premier League action, defending champions Chennai Super Kings and Royal Challengers Bengaluru kept their playoff hopes alive with impressive victories on Sunday.

Chennai Super Kings secured a crucial five-wicket win over Rajasthan Royals, thanks to skipper Ruturaj Gaikwad’s unbeaten 42 off 41 balls. Pacers Simarjeet Singh and Tushar Deshpande starred with the ball, sharing five wickets to restrict Rajasthan to 141-5. Chennai chased down the target in 18.2 overs to seal their first win over Rajasthan in five games.

With this win, Chennai climbed to third in the IPL table with 14 points, tied with Sunrisers Hyderabad but ahead on net run-rate. Meanwhile, Rajasthan remains in second place with 16 points from 12 games, needing just one win from their remaining two matches to secure a spot in the playoffs.

In the late game, Royal Challengers Bengaluru defeated Delhi Capitals by 47 runs, with Rajat Patidar’s 52 off 33 balls leading the way for the hosts. Left-arm medium pacer Yash Dayal and Lockie Ferguson starred with the ball as Delhi was bowled out for 140 in 19.1 overs.

Bengaluru’s win propelled them to fifth in the table, ahead of Delhi on net run-rate. Both teams have 12 points from 13 games and are still in contention for a playoff spot.
