CSK Coach Fleming Praises Ruturaj Gaikwad and Stoinis for Centuries in IPL 2024 Match; Acknowledges Toss Impact on LSG Defeat

Lucknow Super Giants (LSG) pulled off a stunning victory against Chennai Super Kings (CSK) at the M.A. Chidambaram Stadium, becoming the first away team to win at the venue in the ongoing Indian Premier League. Marcus Stoinis was the hero of the match, smashing a brilliant 124 off just 63 balls to guide LSG to a six-wicket win.

Despite needing 74 runs off the final six overs, Stoinis’ aggressive batting and some lackluster bowling from CSK helped LSG chase down the target. CSK head coach Stephen Fleming admitted that missed opportunities and losing the toss played a part in his team’s defeat.

Ruturaj Gaikwad’s magnificent century for CSK went in vain as Stoinis’ counter-attacking knock stole the show. Fleming praised both players for their exceptional performances and acknowledged the competitive nature of the game.

Fleming also addressed the changes in CSK’s line-up this season, emphasizing the team’s efforts to find a stable playing combination for the long term. On the other hand, LSG’s decision to promote Stoinis up the order proved to be a masterstroke, with the all-rounder delivering consistently with the bat.

Adam Voges, LSG’s consultant, lauded Stoinis for his impactful contributions and highlighted his ability to control an innings effectively. Both Voges and Fleming commended Stoinis for his power-hitting and smart batting approach, which ultimately led LSG to a memorable victory over CSK.
