Curry College President Promises Job Guarantee for Students

In a bold move to attract and retain students, Curry College President Jay Gonzalez has announced the launch of the “Curry Commitment” program, promising students a job within six months of graduation. The initiative, set to begin next fall with the current freshman class, aims to address the growing concerns around the value of a college education and the need for tangible outcomes post-graduation.

Under the program, students who do not secure a job offer or acceptance to a graduate or professional school within the specified timeframe will have several options available to them. These include the college paying their student loans for up to a year, placement in a yearlong paid internship related to their field of study, or coverage of six graduate course credits at Curry if admitted to a program. To qualify, students must opt into the program, maintain a GPA of at least 2.8, declare a major by junior year, and graduate within four years.

Gonzalez believes that the guarantee will set Curry College apart from other institutions and help boost enrollment and retention rates. With the changing landscape of higher education and the increasing scrutiny on the value of a degree, programs like the “Curry Commitment” aim to provide students with a clear pathway to success post-graduation.

While some similar guarantee programs have faced challenges in the past, such as discontinuation or lack of student participation, Curry College is confident in the positive outcomes it can deliver for its students. With a focus on career preparation and tracking job outcomes, the college is committed to ensuring that graduates secure meaningful employment opportunities in their chosen fields.
