Reading Time: < 1 minute

The Dallas Stars secured their spot in the second round of the playoffs with a thrilling 2-1 victory over the Vegas Golden Knights in Game 7 on Sunday night. The Stars took an early lead, but the Golden Knights managed to tie the game in the second period. However, Dallas’ fourth line came through with the game-winning goal early in the third period, sealing the series win on home ice.

Head coach Pete DeBoer and veteran forward Joe Pavelski continued their impressive Game 7 records, improving to 8-0 and 8-3 respectively. The Stars capitalized on their home-ice advantage, as the home team historically has a strong record in Game 7 matchups.

Radek Faksa of the Stars’ fourth line scored the crucial goal just 44 seconds into the third period, with Craig Smith and Thomas Harley providing the assists. This line has been a standout performer for Dallas throughout the series, showcasing the team’s depth and resilience.

Both teams made costly mistakes during the game, with Wyatt Johnston capitalizing on a turnover to score the opening goal for Dallas. Johnston, who has been a standout player for the Stars, scored his fourth goal of the series and seventh point overall.

DeBoer made some strategic lineup changes for Game 7, including moving rookie Logan Stankoven to the top line. While the new line didn’t score, they created numerous scoring opportunities for the Stars, demonstrating the effectiveness of the coaching decisions.

The Stars will now face the Colorado Avalanche in the next round, with the first two games of the series set to be played on Dallas’ home ice. Fans can expect an exciting matchup between these two Central Division rivals as the Stars look to continue their playoff success.
