The Dallas Wings are gearing up for the upcoming WNBA season after a successful 2023 campaign that saw them reach the semifinals. With the WNBA draft on the horizon, the Wings are looking to add some key pieces to their roster to build on last year’s success.
In the first round of the draft, the Wings had two picks, selecting guard Jacy Sheldon with the fifth overall pick and guard Carla Leite with the ninth overall pick. Sheldon, a versatile guard from Ohio State, brings scoring and 3-point shooting to the team, while Leite, a young guard from France, adds playmaking and scoring ability.
Sheldon, a 2,000-point scorer in college, is expected to form a dynamic backcourt duo with Arike Ogunbowale. With her shooting prowess and scoring ability, Sheldon is poised to make an immediate impact for the Wings. Leite, on the other hand, brings international experience and a well-rounded game to the team.
In the third round, the Wings added guard Ashley Owusu from Penn State, further bolstering their backcourt depth. Owusu, a proven scorer and playmaker, adds another dimension to the team’s offense.
With these new additions, the Wings are looking to continue their upward trajectory and compete for a championship in the upcoming season. Stay tuned for more updates on the Dallas Wings as they prepare for the 2024 WNBA season.
