David Beckham files lawsuit against Mark Wahlberg and F45, jury trial scheduled for January

Soccer legend David Beckham and F45 Chief Brand Officer and actor Mark Wahlberg are set to go head-to-head in a courtroom battle over a failed investment in a chain of gyms. The high-profile stars will face each other in a full-jury trial in January 2025, with Beckham’s company, DB Ventures Ltd, alleging that Mark Wahlberg Investment Group deceived the soccer star in a failed endorsement deal.

Beckham claims that F45 promised him a $1.5 million contract and shares of the company after it went public in July 2021, but failed to deliver on their agreement. As a result, Beckham alleges that he lost over $10 million in the deal. The lawsuit also names F45’s co-founders, Adam Gilchrist and Rob Deutsch, as defendants.

The lawsuit, originally filed in 2022, faced opposition from the F45 team who attempted to have it dismissed. However, their request was denied in September 2023. Beckham’s deal with F45 was reportedly signed in 2020 for five years, but was not publicly announced until 2021.

Despite the legal battle, Beckham expressed excitement about the partnership with F45 in a statement back in 2021. However, he has since deleted promotional posts about F45 from his Instagram page, where he has a massive following of 87 million followers.

The upcoming court case between Beckham and Wahlberg is sure to draw significant attention as two major stars face off over a failed business deal.
