Dawgs Secure Spot in Pac-12 Quarterfinals After Defeating Washington State

The Washington women’s tennis team secured a dominant 4-1 victory over Washington State in the first round of the Pac-12 tournament at Weil Tennis Academy in Ojai, Calif. Despite dropping the doubles point, the Dawgs rallied in singles matches to secure the win.

Alexia Jacobs led the charge with a convincing 6-2, 6-4 win over WSU’s Tse, marking her 15th singles win of the season. Dariya Detkovskaya and Astrid Olsen also contributed to the team’s success with wins on courts 6 and 3, respectively.

The highlight of the match came from Erika Matsuda, who clinched the victory for the Dawgs on the top court with a hard-fought battle over Washington State’s Alvarez Sande, winning 7-6, 7-5.

With this win, Washington advances to the Pac-12 quarterfinals where they will face off against the third-seeded USC Trojans. The upcoming match is scheduled for Thursday, April 25 at Weil Tennis Academy, with action set to begin around 6 p.m.
