The WDA Softball Tournament got off to an exciting start despite the windy and threatening weather in Jamestown. Day one of the regional tournament saw some thrilling matchups and impressive performances from the top-eight teams in the West Region.

Dickinson, Mandan, and Minot emerged victorious on the first day of the tournament. Dickinson secured an 8-2 win over Williston, with standout performances from Ava Jahner and Mackenna Medina. Mandan had a close 13-12 victory over Legacy, thanks to McKenzie Yantzer’s stellar performance at the plate. Minot also had a strong showing, defeating Century 10-3 with Halle Baker leading the way.

Unfortunately, the quarterfinal matchup between Jamestown and Bismarck High was delayed due to lightning and will resume on Friday at 11 a.m. The tournament will continue with Dickinson facing Mandan in the semifinals at 3 p.m., followed by Minot taking on the winner of the Bismarck High vs. Jamestown matchup at 5 p.m.

All games will be held at Jamestown’s Lyle “Trapper” Lawrence Field, promising more thrilling softball action in the days to come. Stay tuned for more updates on the WDA Softball Tournament.
