DCE refutes allegations of involvement in rejection of expired drugs

The District Chief Executive (DCE) for Gomoa Central, Mr Benjamin Kojo Otoo, has vehemently denied allegations made against him and the Member of Parliament (MP) for the area, Mrs Naana Eyiah Quansah, regarding the rejection of expired medicines.

The accusations were made by Mr Kwame Obeng Asare, also known as A Plus, an independent aspiring MP for Gomoa Central in the upcoming 2024 election. A Plus claimed that Mr Otoo and Mrs Quansah were complicit in rejecting expired medicines donated to the Gomoa Obuasi Health Directorate.

In response to these allegations, Mr Otoo held a news conference in Gomoa Afransi to address the issue. He refuted the claims made by A Plus and his supporters, labeling them as “outrageous, malicious, and evil.”

According to Mr Otoo, the medical personnel at the Gomoa Obuasi Directorate have the authority to reject expired drugs on health grounds to prevent any harm to patients. He explained that the donated medicines were not properly labeled, with inscriptions in Dutch that could not be translated by the staff.

Furthermore, Mr Otoo emphasized the need for quality medical supplies and equipment to support the healthcare delivery system in the district. He called for assistance from the public and individuals to ensure excellent healthcare services for the community.
