Delhi Capitals’ Director of Cricket, Sourav Ganguly, emphasized the crucial role played by skipper Rishabh Pant in the team’s batting lineup, attributing their recent loss to Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB) to Pant’s absence. RCB’s impressive resurgence continued with a convincing 47-run victory over DC, marking their fifth consecutive win and propelling them to the fifth position in the standings.

Despite initially struggling with seven losses in their first eight league games, RCB’s remarkable turnaround showcases their resilience and determination to succeed in the tournament. Ganguly, speaking ahead of DC’s final league game against Lucknow Super Giants (LSG), acknowledged Pant’s impact on the team’s batting performance, stating, “Rishabh makes a big difference to our batting.”

Pant, who faced a fine of Rs 30 lakh and a one-match suspension for his team’s slow over-rate, has been in outstanding form in the IPL, amassing 413 runs in 12 matches at an impressive average of 41.30. Ganguly also expressed optimism about Indian skipper Rohit Sharma’s performance in the upcoming T20 World Cup, despite his recent decline in form for Mumbai Indians in the IPL.

Ganguly highlighted the importance of star batter Virat Kohli opening for the team in the World Cup, considering his exceptional performance in the ongoing IPL season where he holds the Orange Cap for most runs. With RCB needing a win against Chennai Super Kings in their final league game for a chance at playoffs, all eyes will be on Kohli to deliver a stellar performance.
