Davis & Elkins College to Hold Special Graduation Ceremony for Student Athlete Participating in NCAA Post-Season Play

ELKINS — Davis & Elkins College will be holding a special graduation ceremony on Monday for senior student athlete Matin Eisa, who is currently participating in NCAA post-season play and unable to attend today’s Commencement events.

Eisa, a finance major and mathematics minor, is a member of the D&E men’s golf team. In response to his scheduling conflict, the college has organized a special Commencement Ceremony to honor Eisa’s achievements. The ceremony will take place on Monday at 10 a.m. in the Myles Center for the Arts Harper-McNeeley Auditorium.

According to a press release from D&E, the special ceremony aims to highlight the college’s support for athletic excellence and commitment to a personalized educational experience. The event will feature hooding and diploma dispersal, similar to the standard ceremony held over the weekend. Family, team members, and campus community members are encouraged to attend in support of Eisa.

Originally from Crowthorne in the United Kingdom, Eisa chose to attend D&E to pursue his passion for college golf in the USA. He has been actively involved on campus, serving as the president of the D&E Student Government Association in 2023.

Eisa expressed his appreciation for the welcoming community at D&E, noting the friendly atmosphere and the opportunity to meet a diverse group of people. He also highlighted the natural beauty of West Virginia, contrasting it with the more compact landscape of England.

The special graduation ceremony for Eisa serves as a testament to D&E’s commitment to recognizing and celebrating the achievements of all its students, both in academics and athletics.
