Reading Time: < 1 minute

In a thrilling match in Chittagong, debutant opening batsman Tanzid Hasan stole the show with an unbeaten 67 to lead Bangladesh to a resounding eight-wicket victory over Zimbabwe in the first T20 international.

After bowling out Zimbabwe for 124, Bangladesh chased down the target with ease, reaching 126-2 in under 16 overs. Tanzid’s impressive knock included eight fours and two sixes, with the highlight being a boundary off Luke Jongwe to seal the win.

Captain Najmul Hossain Shanto praised the team’s performance but emphasized the need to learn from the game and improve in the next match. The record partnership between Clive Madande and Wellington Masakadza gave Zimbabwe a fighting chance, but it was not enough to stop Bangladesh’s dominant display.

Zimbabwe captain Sikandar Raza lamented the poor performance of the senior players in the team but remained hopeful for a better showing in the upcoming matches.

The series is crucial for both teams as they prepare for the upcoming T20 World Cup. The second match of the series will be held in Chittagong on Sunday, providing another opportunity for both teams to fine-tune their skills before the prestigious tournament.

Overall, the first T20 international between Bangladesh and Zimbabwe provided plenty of excitement and showcased the talent and potential of the players on both sides. Fans can look forward to more thrilling encounters in the remaining matches of the series.
