Dedicated Fans Brave 5-Hour Rain Delay to Watch Royals Vs. Orioles

Reading Time: < 1 minute

After enduring a five-hour rain delay, fans at Camden Yards finally got to witness the Baltimore Orioles take on the Kansas City Royals in a Wednesday afternoon baseball game that turned into an early evening affair.

The scheduled 1:05 p.m. start time was pushed back due to inclement weather, leaving fans like 27-year-old Jessica Pearce frustrated. “I really wish they’d tell us something. I don’t mind sitting around for a while, but this is really too long,” she said.

While some fans decided to tough it out, others like Bill and Toni Ulrich had enough and left the ballpark early. “It’s just as cold and wet as when we got here. We’re done. We’re out of here. It’s not worth it,” Toni said.

Despite the long delay, the game eventually got underway at 6:05 p.m., allowing fans who stuck around to sit in any open seat. The Orioles and Royals avoided having to reschedule the game for a later date, as both teams had busy schedules in the coming months.

Although this rain delay fell short of the major league record of 7 hours, 23 minutes, it was certainly a test of patience for both players and fans alike. As the game finally began, the excitement of baseball overshadowed the long wait that preceded it.
