Deepika Kumari, the former world No. 1 archer, has been re-inducted into the Target Olympic Podium Scheme (TOPS) core group as she gears up for the Paris Games. The announcement comes after Deepika’s impressive silver medal win at the World Cup in Shanghai, marking her successful comeback after taking a break last year due to motherhood.

The 29-year-old recurve archer, a three-time Olympian, has been on a winning streak, also clinching a medal at the Asia Cup earlier this year. With only one qualifying tournament left before the Paris Games, Deepika’s re-induction into the TOPS core group is a testament to her dedication and skill in the sport.

In addition to Deepika, other athletes have also been recognized for their potential in their respective sports. Mrinal Chauhan has been added to the TOPS Development group, while Pravin Jadhav has been moved from Development to Core group. Para-powerlifter Ashok has also been inducted into the TOPS Core group, showcasing the diversity of talent in Indian sports.

Furthermore, squash players Anahat Singh, Abhay Singh, and Velavan Senthilkumar have been included in the TOPS Development group to prepare for the Los Angeles Olympics in 2028. The decision comes after squash was included in the 2028 Games, highlighting the MOC’s commitment to supporting athletes across various disciplines in their Olympic journey.

As India continues to excel in sports on the global stage, the re-induction and inclusion of these talented athletes in the TOPS program reflect the country’s growing presence in the world of athletics.
