Deepika Padukone’s Deewani Mastani Gets Featured On The Academy’s Official Insta Page
Beating our mid-week blues, we were treated to a delightful surprise when The Academy’s official Instagram handle shared a video of Bollywood diva Deepika Padukone’s mesmerising performance in the iconic song Deewani Mastani from the movie Bajirao Mastani.
Sung by the talented Shreya Ghoshal, Deewani Mastani is a standout track from Sanjay Leela Bhansali’s acclaimed film, featuring a stellar cast including Ranveer Singh and Priyanka Chopra. The post from The Academy garnered widespread attention, quickly going viral as fans flooded the comments section with expressions of gratitude for recognising the beauty of Hindi cinema. Many praised the song’s exquisite visuals and Deepika’s stunning portrayal, calling it a cinematic masterpiece.
Among those who couldn’t resist reacting was Deepika’s husband, Ranveer Singh, who played the role of Peshwa Bajirao in the film. He wrote, “Mesmeric.”
Deepika Padukone further showcased her appreciation by reposting the video on her Instagram stories, expressing gratitude for The Academy’s acknowledgement of her contribution to Indian cinema.
This isn’t the first time Deepika has been associated with the Oscars. Last year, she had the honour of introducing the performance of the Oscar-winning song Naatu Naatu from the movie RRR at the prestigious awards ceremony. In her introduction, Deepika emphasised the song’s infectious energy, electrifying beats, and its significance in conveying the film’s anti-colonialist themes.
Naatu Naatu created history by becoming the first-ever Telugu song to be nominated, performed, and ultimately won at the Oscars. Composed by the talented M. M. Keeravani, the song competed in the Best Original Song category.
