Delhi Capitals Defeat Rajasthan Royals by 20 Runs in IPL 2024 Match, Stay in Playoff Race

Reading Time: < 1 minute

In a high-octane clash at the Arun Jaitley Stadium, Delhi Capitals emerged victorious against Rajasthan Royals in a thrilling encounter in the IPL 2024. The match saw a stormy knock from Rajasthan Royals’ skipper Sanju Samson, who scored a blistering 86 off just 46 balls. However, his efforts were not enough to secure a win for his team as they fell short by 20 runs.

Delhi Capitals set a challenging target of 222 runs for the Royals, with openers Jake Fraser-McGurk and Abhishek Porel leading the charge with impressive fifties. Fraser-McGurk’s explosive 19-ball fifty set the tone for DC’s innings, while Porel continued the onslaught with a composed knock.

Despite a valiant effort from Samson and some late fireworks from Rovman Powell and Shubman Dubey, Rajasthan Royals could not chase down the target. The turning point of the game came when Samson was controversially dismissed after a catch that was disputed by the Royals.

DC’s bowlers put up a strong performance, with Kuldeep Yadav’s two-wicket over being a crucial moment in the match. R Ashwin was the standout bowler for the Royals, but it was not enough to stop DC from securing their sixth win of the tournament.

With this win, Delhi Capitals have strengthened their position in the playoff race, while Rajasthan Royals will be looking to bounce back from their second consecutive defeat in the upcoming matches.
