Demi Moore, the renowned Hollywood actress, recently opened up about her challenging portrayal of former model Ann Woodward and the persistent issue of ageism in the entertainment industry. In a candid interview with Variety, the 61-year-old star shared her insights into the complexities of playing the role of socialite Ann Woodward in the FX series ‘Feud: Capote vs. the Swans.’

The series delves into the tragic incident in 1955 when Woodward mistakenly shot and killed her husband, believing him to be a burglar. Moore emphasized the importance of portraying the truth and the impact it could have on Woodward’s surviving family members.

Reflecting on Woodward’s life, Moore delved into the emotional journey of understanding the character’s mindset, exploring themes of external validation and the longing to be seen and acknowledged. She described Woodward as someone haunted by deep emotional wounds and an overwhelming sense of emptiness and longing.

While working on the series, Moore found solace and inspiration in the presence of powerhouse women on set, including Naomi Watts, Diane Lane, Chloe Sevigny, Jessica Lange, and Molly Ringwald. She highlighted the significance of women playing characters that accurately represent their ages, challenging ageist stereotypes prevalent in the industry.

Moore acknowledged the progress made in Hollywood regarding ageism but stressed the need to continue challenging stereotypes and rules that limit women’s opportunities based on age. She passionately argued against the shame associated with being sexual or having desires, advocating for the embrace of independence and the debunking of societal norms.

With her powerful insights and determination to push boundaries, Demi Moore continues to be a trailblazer in the fight against ageism in Hollywood.
