Denise Drysdale, the beloved comedian and TV personality, has finally addressed the long-standing rumors of a feud with fellow TV host Julia Morris. The two women reportedly had a rocky relationship dating back to their time working together on the Channel Nine variety show, In Melbourne Tonight, from 1996 to 1997. According to Daily Mail, there were claims of a “secret feud” between the two, with suggestions that they “hate each other” and needed “very strategic planning” to be on the same reality show, I’m A Celebrity.
A source told the publication that Denise felt Julia was not grateful for the advice she was giving, leading to a personality clash from the beginning. However, Denise has now set the record straight, calling the rumors “utter rubbish” in an interview with Yahoo Lifestyle following her elimination from I’m A Celebrity.
“It’s total bull c**p,” Denise asserted. “I really don’t know where it came from. It’s pointless, it’s not true and it’s just put such a negative spin on things. That’s why I don’t like media today, they want a negative. Let’s just dwell on the positives.”
Denise went on to express her admiration for Julia, noting that she has seen her on and off since their time on IMT and is a big fan of her work. She praised Julia for her dedication to her career, including taking courses overseas and honing her skills in improv.
“I think she’s terrific. I think Robert [Irwin] with her on the show, they just blend and it’s fabulous,” Denise added.
Reflecting on her time on I’m A Celebrity, Denise humorously shared that she was “thrilled” to be the first person voted out of the jungle. Despite not getting along with everyone, she highlighted the positive experiences she had and the friendships she formed during her time on the show.
“I was looking forward to making some friends like they have in the past and I did that,” Denise said. “I’ve got some lovely friends. Tristan [MacManus] I’ve worked with obviously on Studio 10, but I didn’t know how lovely he was until I spent the time there. And then Steven K Amos, he’s gorgeous. Also Candice [Warner], she’s just a lovely, lovely woman. And also Peter [Daicos], the footballer, he’s funny as. I met some really nice people.”
Denise concluded by expressing her gratitude for the experience but made it clear that she has no plans to take on any extreme challenges like Survivor or Bear Grylls in the future. She is content with her life, filled with family, friends, and pets who love her.
The response from Denise puts an end to the speculations of a feud with Julia Morris, highlighting the importance of focusing on the positive aspects of relationships and experiences. As she moves forward from her time on I’m A Celebrity, Denise remains grateful for the connections she made and the memories she created during her jungle adventure.
