Dennis Quaid’s New Film “The Long Game” Inspires Audiences with True Story of Resilience

After decades in the film industry, Dennis Quaid is on a mission to bring inspiring and uplifting stories to the big screen with his latest film, “The Long Game.” The 70-year-old actor shared with The Christian Post his desire to counteract the negative content often seen in Hollywood and provide audiences with a film that instructs and relates to the heart.

Inspired by Humberto G. Garcia’s book “Mustang Miracle,” “The Long Game” tells the remarkable true story of five Mexican American high school students who defied the odds in the 1950s by building their own golf course after being banned from playing at an all-white Texas country club. These students, known as the San Felipe Mustangs, went on to become state champions and were eventually inducted into the Latin American International Sports Hall of Fame.

Quaid, who portrays Frank Mitchell in the film, emphasized the importance of telling stories like these that highlight the resilience and dedication of individuals who overcome discrimination and adversity. He noted that the film serves as a poignant reminder of the social climate in the 1950s and the progress that has been made since then.

“The Long Game” premiered at the South by Southwest Film Festival in March 2023, where it received the Narrative Spotlight Audience Award. The film, directed by Julio Quintana and released by Mucho Mas Media and Bonniedale Entertainment, has since been released in theaters nationwide.

Quaid’s commitment to producing inspiring and aspirational films aligns with the growing demand for positive and uplifting content in Hollywood. As audiences continue to seek out stories that touch the heart and inspire the spirit, Quaid remains dedicated to bridging the gap between the sacred and the secular through his work in the film industry.
