Deseret News: Utah and BYU Law Schools’ Rankings in Latest U.S. News College Report

In a surprising turn of events, Utah’s two prestigious law schools, the University of Utah’s J. Quinney College of Law and Brigham Young University’s J. Reuben Clark Law School, have both been ranked 28th in the nation according to the latest U.S. News & World Reports 2024 rankings.

BYU had previously cracked the Top 25 last year, ranking 22nd overall in the 2023 rankings. On the other hand, this year marked the University of Utah’s highest ranking ever, making it the first time it reached the top 30. Dean Elizabeth Kronk Warner expressed her pride in this achievement, stating that it reaffirms Utah Law’s position among the best law schools in the nation.

Both Utah and BYU tied with the law schools of Boston College, the University of Florida, and George Mason University among the ranking of 196 law schools nationwide. BYU Law Dean David H. Moore highlighted the school’s impressive performance in the U.S. News ranking system, emphasizing the institution’s commitment to developing students of integrity who combine faith and intellect in lifelong service to God and neighbor.

Additionally, BYU Law’s specialty programs, such as business and corporate law, contracts and commercial law, and tax law, also ranked well nationally. The law school’s low tuition rates and focus on value have contributed to its reputation as a best value law school.
