Desirée Rogers, Former White House Social Secretary, to Address Harvard Business School Class of 2024 on Class Day

Desirée G. Rogers, former White House Social Secretary and CEO of Black Opal LLC, has been announced as the keynote speaker for Harvard Business School’s Class Day on May 22. Rogers, who graduated from Harvard with an MBA in 1985, will address the graduating class one day before the University-wide Commencement ceremonies.

During her time in the Obama administration, Rogers played a key role in planning and executing official social events at the White House, where she worked to make the space more inclusive. After leaving the White House, she became CEO of the Johnson Publishing Company, overseeing publications such as Ebony and Jet.

Rogers, known for her expertise in communication, diversity, and women’s empowerment, is committed to using business as a platform for improving the lives of consumers. She currently serves on the boards of Inspired Entertainment and Stagwell Global Media, and is involved with organizations such as the American Cancer Society and Gyrls in the H.O.O.D.

In a statement, Rogers expressed her belief in the power of collaboration and supporting other women in their professional journeys. She emphasized the importance of balancing work and self-care, stating, “You can feel good about your work and be great to yourself at the same time.”
