Brilliant Detroit, a nonprofit organization dedicated to helping children in Detroit prepare for school, is now expanding its reach beyond the city limits. With plans to spread to major cities like Chicago and Philadelphia, the organization is on a mission to create “kid success” neighborhoods where children and families have access to the resources they need to thrive.

Founded in 2016, Brilliant Detroit has quickly gained popularity in the Detroit area, serving over 19,000 kids in 18 neighborhoods. The organization focuses on childhood development programs that have led to improvements in students’ reading levels and overall education. CEO and co-founder Cindy Eggleton emphasizes the importance of providing children and families with everything they need from birth to 8 years old.

Using a holistic approach, Brilliant Detroit offers a wide range of programs and services, including early childhood education, family support, and nutrition information. The organization partners with 160 organizations to deliver these services and forms advisory groups in the neighborhoods it serves.

Families like Camillia Martin and Selena and Brandon Parker have found a supportive community at Brilliant Detroit’s hubs, where their children can participate in activities, tutoring, and socialization opportunities. The organization’s focus on both child and parent development has been a blessing for many families, providing a space where they can learn and grow together.

As Brilliant Detroit continues to expand its reach, more families across the country will have access to the resources and support they need to help their children succeed.
