Devastating poll finds Joe Biden as the least popular US President in 70 years

In a recent poll, President Joe Biden has been deemed the least popular Commander in Chief at this point in his presidency in the last seven decades. The 81-year-old president averaged a job approval rating of 38.7% during his 13th quarter in office, which ran from January 20 to April 19.

During this period, Biden faced mounting pressure over the US’s response to the conflict in Gaza and the ongoing migrant crisis. According to the Gallup poll, none of the nine presidents elected to their first term since Dwight Eisenhower had a lower 13th-quarter average approval rating than Biden.

The previous record for the lowest 13th-quarter average approval rating was held by George H.W. Bush at 41.8% in 1992. In comparison, Biden’s immediate predecessors, Donald Trump and Barack Obama, had average job approval ratings of 46.8% and 45.9%, respectively, at the same point in their presidencies.

The most recent Gallup poll conducted between April 1-22 showed that only 38% of Americans approve of the job Biden is doing. His approval ratings among Republicans remain extremely low at 2%, while independents also show weak support at 33%. However, the majority of Democrats, 83%, continue to view Biden’s performance positively.

Despite these challenges, Biden remains focused on addressing key issues such as the conflict in Gaza. He recently spoke with Egyptian President Abdel Fattah al-Sisi to discuss negotiations for a ceasefire and the release of hostages held by Hamas. The White House emphasized the importance of securing a ceasefire for the people of Gaza and the need for humanitarian aid access.
