DOTT SERVICES Flags Off 3.8 km Town Roads Project in Mbale City

Ugandan firm DOTT SERVICES has recently kicked off a new town roads project in Mbale City, covering a total of 3.8 km for motorists. This project marks the sixth initiative by DOTT, following successful road projects in towns like Tororo, Soroti, and Busia under the Uganda Support to Municipal Infrastructure Development (USMID) program. The USMID initiative, which began in 2013 and expanded in 2019, aims to improve infrastructure in various towns across Uganda.

The upgrades in Mbale, as well as completed projects in other towns, have already started to show positive results for local residents and businesses. Improved road safety, proper lighting, and modern drainage systems have enhanced urban sanitation and boosted commerce in central Mbale. The new roads, pedestrian walkways, and solar street lighting are expected to bring about an economic boom in the city, benefiting both residents and transporters passing through.

The project in Mbale aligns with Uganda’s National Development Plan for 2020-25, emphasizing the importance of infrastructure quality and encouraging business and investment across regions. Additionally, the use of solar power and energy-efficient lighting in the project supports the country’s climate pledges under its Nationally Determined Contribution.

DOTT SERVICES, a local contractor, has also secured financing from organizations like OPEC, BADEA, and Afreximbank for other development projects in Uganda, including road construction and a hydropower project. The firm’s commitment to executing complex development projects showcases the capabilities of Ugandan companies in contributing to the nation’s growth and development.
