Reading Time: < 1 minute

Illinois track and field star Devin Quinn, known as the “fastest man in Big Ten history,” has had an impressive athletic journey that led him to success on the track. Born in Ann Arbor, Michigan, Quinn initially focused on soccer and in-line hockey before transitioning to sprinting at the encouragement of his sister.

Despite facing some challenges with hamstring issues in high school, Quinn’s talent as a sprinter quickly became evident when he set a national-leading time of 10.31 seconds in the 100-meter dash. This success caught the attention of Illinois, where Quinn ultimately decided to continue his track career.

Throughout his time at Illinois, Quinn continued to excel, setting records and earning accolades. His senior season in 2019 was particularly memorable, with a standout performance at the Big Ten outdoor championships and a historic run at the NCAA Outdoor Track and Field Championships in Austin, Texas.

Despite battling illness just before the big race, Quinn delivered a remarkable performance, clocking in at 10.01 seconds in the 100-meter dash, breaking the Big Ten record. He also set a school record in the 200-meter dash with a time of 20.31 seconds.

Since his time as a collegiate athlete, Quinn has continued to stay involved in the track and field world, coaching at various schools and competing on the European circuit. His dedication to the sport and his impressive achievements have solidified his legacy as an Illini legend.
