Devolver Direct 2024 unveils Tenjutsu, Possessors, and more in showcase

Devolver Digital, known for its unique and innovative approach to game showcases, did not disappoint with its latest summer showcase. The theme this year seemed to revolve around psychological horror, as the publisher unveiled a lineup of thrilling games accompanied by a suspenseful short film.

Among the highlights of the showcase were two new games: Tenjutsu and Possessors. Tenjutsu, an action roguelite title from Dead Cells designer Sébastien Benard, puts players in the shoes of a former yakuza on a mission to dismantle four crime syndicates in a ramshackle city. The order in which players take down the syndicates will shape their arsenal and the city itself. While the launch date for Tenjutsu is set for “202X,” it will be available on PC and consoles.

Possessors, developed by Heart Machine, is a side-scrolling game with platform fighter-inspired combat mechanics. Players will navigate an interdimensional crisis as Luca and Rehm, two characters who must learn to cooperate despite their differences. The game is slated for a 2025 release on PC.

In addition to the new titles, Devolver also announced release dates for Anger Foot and The Crush House, set for July 11 and August 9, respectively. Fans can also look forward to DLC updates for Cult of the Lamb and The Talos Principle II, offering new content and gameplay experiences.

With a lineup that promises to deliver intense gameplay and immersive storytelling, Devolver Digital’s summer showcase has left gamers eagerly anticipating the release of these exciting new titles.
