Connecticut Ranks in the Middle in U.S. News and World Report’s Best States 2024 Ranking

In the latest release of the Best States 2024 ranking by U.S. News and World Report, Connecticut has landed in the middle of the pack, coming in at No. 20. The rankings assess the quality of life in each state based on various factors such as crime & corrections, economy, education, fiscal stability, health care, infrastructure, natural environment, and opportunity.

Utah claimed the top spot as the best place to live, followed closely by New Hampshire. The rankings are determined by evaluating 71 different metrics over a three-year period, with factors like health care and education carrying significant weight in the final scoring.

Connecticut’s ranking within the categories varied, with highlights including a No. 3 spot in health care, a No. 6 ranking in crime & corrections, and a No. 8 ranking in education. However, the state struggled in fiscal stability, coming in at No. 49.

Other New England states also made the list, with Massachusetts securing a spot in the top 10. On the flip side, states like Louisiana, New Mexico, and Mississippi found themselves in the bottom 10.

Overall, the Best States 2024 ranking provides valuable insights into the strengths and weaknesses of each state, helping residents and policymakers alike make informed decisions about where to live and invest.
