The Humboldt Light Opera Company is offering an exciting opportunity for aspiring artists and painters with a four-session stage scenery painting class led by master scenographer Carleen Cogliati. The class is set to begin this Saturday and will continue on May 11, June 1, and June 8 at The Space in Arcata.
The class is open to individuals of all ages, with no prior experience required. Whether you are a seasoned painter looking to expand your skills or a beginner eager to learn, this class promises to be a valuable learning experience. Participants will explore painting techniques for texturing, creating depth, and adding dimension to painted drops and scenic pieces.
Carleen Cogliati, with over 50 years of experience in designing sets for local theater companies, brings a wealth of knowledge and expertise to the class. With an MFA in scenography, Cogliati is well-equipped to guide students in translating their art onto the stage, making set pieces come alive with color and texture.
All materials will be provided for the class, and the fee is $10 per session or $30 for all four classes. For more information and to register, interested individuals can contact HLOC at info@hloc.org.

Friends of the Arcata Marsh will be hosting a free tour of the Arcata Marsh and Wildlife Sanctuary on Saturday, led by expert Elliott Dabill. The tour will focus on the native plant garden in front of the Interpretive Center, providing a unique opportunity to learn about the local flora and fauna.
