U.S. News and World Report recently released its Best States 2024 ranking, and New Hampshire residents have reason to celebrate. The state has been ranked as the second best state in the country, just narrowly missing the top spot.

The rankings evaluate the quality of life in each state based on various factors such as crime & corrections, economy, education, fiscal stability, health care, infrastructure, natural environment, and opportunity. A total of 71 metrics are used to assess each state over a three-year period.

New Hampshire excelled in several key areas, earning top rankings in Crime & Corrections, where it was ranked No. 1 for both corrections outcomes and public safety. The state also performed well in Education, Economy, Health Care, and Natural Environment.

While New Hampshire ranked high overall, it did face challenges in areas like Fiscal Stability and Infrastructure. Despite these challenges, the state’s strong performance in other categories helped secure its position as the second best state in the nation.

The report also highlighted the top 10 best states in 2024, with Utah claiming the top spot, followed by New Hampshire, Nebraska, Minnesota, and Idaho. On the other end of the spectrum, the report identified the 10 worst states, with Louisiana, New Mexico, and Mississippi ranking at the bottom.

Overall, New Hampshire’s impressive performance in the Best States 2024 report is a testament to the state’s commitment to providing a high quality of life for its residents.
