District Tennis Titles Claimed by Helias’ Loethen, Capital City’s Schnoebelen, and McNutt

Helias junior Coen Loethen and Capital City senior Isaiah Schnoebelen and junior Ethan McNutt emerged as the top players in the Class 2 District 5 boys tennis individual tournament, claiming district titles in singles and doubles play.

Loethen dominated the singles bracket with a perfect 3-0 record, defeating tough opponents along the way. He secured his spot in the Class 2 state tournament with wins over Jefferson City’s Owen Friedewald and Hannibal’s Zane Lomax before clinching the district title by defeating Jefferson City’s Arjun Garikapaty in the championship match.

Meanwhile, Schnoebelen and McNutt teamed up to dominate the doubles bracket, also finishing with a flawless 3-0 record. They secured their spot in the state tournament by defeating Rolla’s Joe Foster and Cameron Brown in the quarterfinals and Jefferson City’s Avnith Kumar and David Murillo in the semifinals before clinching the district title by beating Rolla’s Cameron Cooper and Owen Kuchar in the championship match.

With their impressive performances, Loethen, Schnoebelen, McNutt, and their teammates have set themselves up for success in the upcoming Class 2 state tournament at Cooper Tennis Complex in Springfield on May 16-17. The competition promises to be fierce, but these talented players have proven they have what it takes to compete at the highest level.
