Weak immunity leading to prolonged illness is a growing concern among patients in Lucknow, according to doctors. Despite receiving the best medication, some individuals are unable to recover from common ailments like fever, cough, or cold within the expected timeframe, indicating a weakened immune system.
Prof. Kauser Usman from King George’s Medical University (KGMU) highlighted the challenge of weak immunity faced by many patients visiting the hospital. He explained that a compromised immune system reduces the body’s ability to fight off infections, resulting in prolonged illnesses. For example, a cough that typically resolves in three to five days may persist for up to 10 days in cases of weak immunity.
Similar cases have been reported in hospitals across Lucknow, with patients who previously had COVID-19 experiencing delayed responses to medication due to poor immunity. Dr. Ajai Shankar Tripathi from Lok Bandhu hospital emphasized the importance of addressing weak immunity to prevent complications and serious illnesses.
Furthermore, doctors warned that prolonged screen time could also contribute to poor health outcomes, including obesity and the spread of diseases. Prof. Surya Kant from KGMU stressed the need for regular physical activity to reduce stress levels and improve overall health.
As the World Health Day approaches, it is crucial for individuals to prioritize their immune system’s health to prevent prolonged illnesses and maintain overall well-being. By focusing on immunity and adopting healthy lifestyle habits, individuals can enhance their body’s ability to fight off infections and recover faster from illnesses.
