Dodgers come from behind with Max Muncy’s 2-run homer in the eighth to secure 5-4 win against Cardinals – NBC Los Angeles

In a thrilling comeback, the Los Angeles Dodgers defeated the St. Louis Cardinals 5-4 on Sunday thanks to a two-run homer by Max Muncy in the eighth inning. The Dodgers, who were down by four runs, managed to rally and take three out of four games in the series.

Teoscar Hernández also played a key role in the victory, contributing two hits and two RBIs. St. Louis rookie Victor Scott II impressed by reaching base three times and scoring two runs, while Paul Goldschmidt and Brendan Donovan each had two RBIs for the Cardinals.

The game was tied 4-4 in the eighth inning when Hernández hit a solo home run to bring the Dodgers within a run. Muncy then stepped up and delivered the game-winning homer to right-center field off John King, who was called up from Triple A Memphis earlier in the day.

Nabil Crismatt earned the win for the Dodgers after pitching two scoreless innings, while Daniel Hudson secured his first save of the season by retiring the Cardinals in order in the ninth.

The Cardinals had taken an early lead with runs in the third, fifth, and sixth innings, but the Dodgers fought back to secure the win. Both teams will now look ahead to their next series, with the Cardinals facing the San Diego Padres and the Dodgers taking on the San Francisco Giants.
