Dodgers fall short in sweep attempt against Giants, lose 4-1 in final game – NBC Los Angeles

Reading Time: < 1 minute

The San Francisco Giants came out on top against the Los Angeles Dodgers on Wednesday night, winning 4-1 to avoid a three-game sweep. Pitcher Logan Webb delivered an outstanding performance, pitching six scoreless innings and allowing only three hits while striking out five and walking three. This victory snapped a six-game losing streak against the Dodgers for the Giants.

Mike Yastrzemski contributed to the win with a two-run homer in the third inning off Dodgers starter Elieser Hernández. Heliot Ramos added an RBI double in the sixth to extend the lead to 3-0. The Dodgers managed to score a run in the eighth inning on a sacrifice fly by Max Muncy, but the Giants responded with an RBI single from Luis Matos in the bottom half.

Despite the loss, the Dodgers extended their franchise record by allowing four runs or fewer in 22 consecutive games, winning 17 of them. Manager Dave Roberts praised Hernández’s performance in his Dodgers debut, acknowledging Yastrzemski’s home run as the turning point in the game.

The Giants made some roster moves, signing catcher Curt Casali to a one-year contract and optioning catcher Jakson Reetz to Triple-A Sacramento. In the upcoming games, the Dodgers will send RHP Tyler Glasnow to the mound against the Reds, while the Giants will start LHP Kyle Harrison against the Rockies.

Overall, the Giants’ win was a much-needed boost for the team, and they hope to build on this momentum in the upcoming games.
