Donald Trump celebrates as ABC News president Kim Godwin resigns: ‘Good riddance!’

Former President Donald Trump has made headlines once again, this time reacting to the resignation of ABC News president Kim Godwin. In a post on his Truth Social platform, Trump expressed his satisfaction at the news, suggesting that Godwin’s departure may have been influenced by what he perceived as biased reporting against him.

Trump wrote, “Happy to report that Kim Godwin, Head of ABC, has resigned. Could it be the unfair reporting on EVERYTHING TRUMP?” He went on to say, “In any event, GOOD RIDDANCE! Hopefully somebody else will be able to control George Slopadopolous and the rest of the Fake News Thugs over at ABC? Best wishes Kim!”

Godwin’s resignation comes after Walt Disney Co. appointed Debra O’Connell to oversee the news division, leading to speculation about Godwin’s performance and the scrutiny she faced from corporate superiors. Despite being the first black woman to lead a network news division, reports suggest that Godwin was stripped of power and faced increasing challenges in her role.

In a staff memo obtained by the New York Post, Godwin announced her decision to retire from broadcast journalism, citing the need to prioritize her family and future. She expressed gratitude for the opportunity to lead a team known for its trust, integrity, and determination to be the best in the business.

Having worked at major networks like ABC, CBS, and NBC, as well as local news stations in nine cities, Godwin leaves behind a legacy of hard work and dedication. She concluded her note to staff by wishing them continued success and departing with her head held high.
