Donald Trump ordered to pay £300,000 in legal costs after losing UK dossier case against former MI6 spy | Business News

Former US President Donald Trump is facing more legal troubles, this time in the UK. A week after his conviction in the Stormy Daniels hush money case, it has been revealed that Trump has failed to comply with a UK High Court order to pay £300,000 in legal costs to Christopher Steele, the former MI6 agent who compiled a dossier alleging Russian interference in the 2016 US election.

The High Court threw out Trump’s attempt to sue Steele’s company, Orbis Business Intelligence, earlier this year. Despite being ordered to pay the legal costs in February, Trump has ignored the order and a formal offer to settle with Steele.

Steele, who was commissioned to produce the dossier by Trump’s political opponents, including Hillary Clinton’s Democratic Party, stated that Trump has been in breach of the court order for two months now. He believes that Trump’s actions are an attempt to take vengeance against him or to keep him quiet.

The revelation of Trump’s breach of the UK court order comes after he became the first US president to be convicted of a felony. He is appealing that verdict and faces three other live legal proceedings in the US.

If Trump does not settle with Steele, the former MI6 agent’s only option would be to seek repayment in the US, incurring further costs. Despite these legal challenges, Trump’s press secretary and private office have failed to respond to requests for comment on the matter.
