Doncic’s status uncertain, Lively unlikely for Game 4 against Timberwolves

Reading Time: < 1 minute

The Dallas Mavericks are on the brink of making their first NBA Finals appearance since their championship win in 2011, but they may have to do it without two key players in Game 4 against the Minnesota Timberwolves.

Star guard Luka Doncic is dealing with a right knee sprain and left ankle soreness, making his availability questionable for the crucial game. Doncic has been the driving force behind the Mavericks’ offense all season and has elevated his game in the playoffs, averaging impressive numbers of 28.3 points, 9.3 rebounds, and nine assists.

On the other hand, rookie Dereck Lively is listed as doubtful due to a neck sprain he suffered in Game 3 after taking a knee to the head early in the game. Despite not entering concussion protocol, Lively’s status for Game 4 remains uncertain.

While Lively has played a significant role for the Mavericks in the playoffs, averaging 8.5 points and 7.1 rebounds in limited minutes, NBA Insider Chris Haynes reported that the rookie is unlikely to suit up for the upcoming game.

However, there is some positive news for Dallas fans as forward Maxi Kleber has been upgraded to questionable after missing the last few games with a separated shoulder. Kleber’s return could provide a boost to the team as they look to close out the series with a 3-0 lead.

Mavericks fans will be anxiously awaiting updates on the status of these key players as they hope to secure a spot in the NBA Finals with a win in Game 4. The team’s success may hinge on the availability of Doncic, Lively, and Kleber as they aim to clinch the series on their home court.
