Dottie’s Brew: Brewing Magic with Coffee Grounds

Reading Time: < 1 minute

Warner’s Nursery employee, Kelli Remley, has taken recycling to a whole new level by creating a line of beauty products called Dottie’s Bru using coffee grounds from the nursery’s coffee shop, Dottie’s Garden Coffee Shoppe.

Remley, who initially worked in the landscape division at Warner’s Nursery, transitioned to the retail side of the business to better assist customers in the gardening center. She eventually found herself working behind the counter at Dottie’s as a barista, despite not being a coffee drinker herself.

During a road trip, Remley brainstormed ways to utilize the coffee grounds that were discarded daily at the shop. Recognizing the rich antioxidant properties of coffee grounds, she decided to create a beauty line that would be both high quality and environmentally friendly.

After extensive research and testing, Dottie’s Bru was born, with a name inspired by the Brazilian Portuguese word for “little witch.” The logo for the products features a hand holding a wand with coffee beans and a green leaf, paying homage to the nursery’s roots.

Remley’s body scrubs can now be found at Warner’s Nursery, with plans to explore other products that can be made using the nutrient-rich coffee grounds. She is excited about the versatility and benefits of coffee grounds for both the body and the environment.

This innovative initiative not only showcases Remley’s creativity and dedication but also highlights Warner’s Nursery’s commitment to sustainability. The community is excited to support this eco-friendly venture and looks forward to seeing what other products Remley will develop in the future.
