DP World Sets Global Benchmark with Sustainable Development Impact Disclosure

DP World has taken a groundbreaking step by publishing a Sustainable Development Impact Disclosure (SDID), becoming the first company worldwide to adopt and disclose its development impact in countries of focus in line with the Impact Disclosure Taskforce’s new guidance.

During a four-month public consultation period, industry participants and practitioners were invited to provide feedback to shape and refine the guidance from 18th April to 1st September.

The SDID serves as a framework for private sector companies and sovereigns to showcase how they drive transformation through large-scale infrastructure development in emerging markets and developing economies.

Sultan Ahmed bin Sulayem, DP World Group Chairman and CEO, expressed his pride in the publication of the SDID, emphasizing the company’s commitment to sustainable development and industry-wide accountability. He called for action to catalyze positive change and drive sustainable infrastructure development globally.

Developed in alignment with the Impact Disclosure Taskforce’s recent guidance, the SDID uses impact measurement and monitoring to evaluate investments’ impact on advancing the UN’s Sustainable Development Goals and closing development gaps. It promotes transparency, accountability, and a genuine commitment to sustainable development.

The SDID, characterized by being entity-level, impact-oriented, forward-looking, and context-specific, outlines a five-step process to measure and disclose the impacts of business strategies or national development plans.

DP World and the Taskforce welcome feedback on the SDID to enhance its effectiveness. Stakeholders are encouraged to provide insights by visiting the provided link by 1st September 2024.

Arsalan Mahtafar, Co-Chair of the Impact Disclosure Taskforce, commended DP World for its commitment to promoting sustainable and inclusive economic growth. Cedric Merle, Co-Chair of the Taskforce, highlighted the importance of testing the guidance to meet specific SDG-related needs and expectations of investors and lenders.
